Welcome to Montpellier!

The IUT Montpellier-Sète has signed bilateral agreements with over 50 different universities and can receive students from these institutions in their corresponding departments.

Every year, the University Institute of Technology of Montpellier-Sète welcomes over 100 international students in a variety of academic disciplines from all over the world! Participating in this university exchange in the beautiful south of France is an incredibly unique experience that can benefit not only your education, but your professional future as well. Lodging

Students studying at the Montpellier campus will be accommodated in student housing (dormitories), which hosts hundreds of students from the surrounding universities each year. The International Relations team will organize your living situation beforehand and will assist you in settling in to your new home upon arrival.

Food & Transportation

On the Montpellier campus, students have access to a cafeteria with a variety of affordable meals and snacks, and in addition your student ID will give you access to the cafeterias of the 17 Montpellier University-affiliated campuses in the surrounding area. Public transportation in Montpellier is well designed: there are four trams “lines” that travel in and around Montpellier which stop frequently and converge in the city center. Tram Line 1 has stops next to both the I.U.T and the student housing area, making it easy for students to travel around Montpellier! Students can purchase year-long, monthly, or per-trip passes which apply to both the tram system and the city buses (holistically called TAM)

Student Life

Student life at both the I.U.T campuses (in Sete & Montpellir) is lively and diverse! There is a student union (called a “bureau d’étudiants” or BDE) in each academic department that is open to all students. These unions organize excursions, themed nights out of the town, and cultural activities which are open to all students of the I.U.T! Within the university, there are many opportunities to try new things or continue your passions. The University of Montpellier offers many different recreational sports and athletic activities in various levels of difficulty; it’s open to both amateurs and experts and it is free of charge!  In addition, artistic workshops ranging from cooking to various styles of dance, to pottery are organized throughout the year for the students of the I.U.T.
